Resilient travels was created with the aim of providing students with a virtual space where they can express in different ways experiences and reflections developed from travels, trips and visits focused

on the theme of urban resilience. The first opportunity was

offered by the workshop "Strategic Planning for Resilient

City" organized by Prof. Grazia Brunetta and other

professors of the “Pianificazione territorial, Urbanistica

e Paesaggistico-ambientale” course of the Polytechnic

of Turin. Originally, the output of the travel

experience was envisioned as an exhibition to be

held during the spring of 2019. Following the

covid-19 pandemic and given the impossibility

of live this type of meeting, it was decided to

adapt to the new social distancing conditions.

Shortly after, the idea of a digital space

where to collect all the travel experience

was born. The site itself is built on the

idea of an open architecture, capable

of being modified and expanded o

ver time. It is also configured as a

"bottom-up" tool, made by

students for students.

In addition to providing a digital showcase for students, resilient

travels is a virtual place of knowledge and sharing. These

concepts are key to a new adaptive approach to teaching,

focusing on "horizontal" learning experiences capable of

integrating the traditional "top-down" methodologies. In

this sense, the platform is imagined as an instrument of

active knowledge, capable of giving students the

possibility to create the contents themselves, charging

them with the responsibility of truthfulness of

informations and  accuracy. The resilient travel

initiative allows students to preserve, share

and constructively use multimedia content

prepared and captured by their peer to

broaden their cultural horizons. The

ultimate goal of the  site is to create

over time a growing network of

people interested in the topic of

urban resilience, and to put them

in contact with each other,

creating opportunities

for collaboration

and mutual help.
